2D Flower Arrangement

Painting is a 2D art and generally fixed and eternal (not changes with time) while flower arrangement is a 3D art and usually a short life. I collected many wild plants and put them on my sketch books together with my sketches. I did it almost every Sunday from July to December in 2019. I counted the sketch books I made in this way and found that they were 15 books, quite an achievement as a Sunday painter. Plants collected and then put and pressed on sketch book paper and fixed with adhesive tapes. They show some beauty and  quite often better than my sketches (which I do not show here). Some are silhouette like effect after the colors changed to black. Some remain the original colors well even after several months have passed. Some were alraedy well dried when collected. They show beauty - more structural or compositional beauty than colorful ones as the colors do little render their beauty although some reserved colors do render reserved beauty. Plus some dried plants keep fragrance, especially Asteraceae family.

Owners' best ten Paintings in 2019

The owner of Asnet Art Gallery again like 2018 made little improvement in his paintings in 2019 though total failures were few among more than 300 sketches. The best ten were selected from several different categories of flowers including so called 'weeds'.

This the best one in 2019. The name is unknown. I happened to find this in HK Botanical Garden. A very short period in this shape and color.

This is the 2nd best. This is Lantana Camara, grows as a weed as well as a garden flower due to its changing colors - yellow - orange - red - pink - purple and in between.
The Japanese name (though not grows as weeds) Seven Change Colors (七変化）.

This is the 3rd best. This is a kind of Egg Plant small tree.

This is a wild flower found at a road side.

The Japanese writing means <A root of a tree is bitter but the flowers are pretty and fruits are sweet>.

The above tens are mostly made in Hong Kong Park and HK (Zoological and) Botanical Garden.

The owner spent a lot of time in the 2nd half of 2019 to find beautiful 'weeds' seen on road sides, at  construction sites, bus stops, etc instead of parks, flower gardens and botanical gardens. I hope you will see the beauty of weeds.
